Prof. Tom Kelly’s AI 24 First Nights Features World Premiere

The world premiere of a new work by Matthew Aucoin, Harvard Class of 2012, will be presented on December 1 at 11 a. m. in Sanders Theater as part of the General Education course A-I 24, “First Nights.” Aucoin is Artist in Residence at the Los Angeles Opera, and has worked as a composer and conductor with the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, the American Repertory Theater, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.  The new work, to be performed by Keir GoGwilt ’13 and the composer, is drawn from Aucoin’s new sonata for violin and piano, a co-commission shared by First Nights (supported by the Fromm Foundation) and Dumbarton Oaks.  Open to the Harvard community.
