Fulfilling Empirical & Mathematical Reasoning

EMRUntil the new Quantitative Facility requirement is finalized and takes effect, all students must complete the Empirical & Mathematical Reasoning (EMR) requirement by taking a course that currently counts toward the current General Education EMR requirement or by taking a departmental course in Math, Applied Math, Statistics or Computer Science and receiving a passing letter grade.

For students in the Class of 2020 and beyond, Economics 10a and 10b can fulfill EMR when both are completed with a passing letter grade.  If used to complete EMR, Economics 10a and 10b cannot be used to fulfill any other Gen Ed or distribution requirement.

When the new Quantitative Facility requirement takes effect, anyone who has fulfilled EMR will automatically have fulfilled the new Quantitative Facility requirement.
