How can I get ER credit for a course I think should count for ER?

Students may petition for a departmental course to count for ER. Please note that petitions will only be accepted for courses that have already been taken, not for prospective courses.  To petition for a departmental course to count for ER, students should contact us with the course number, description, the syllabus for the year the student was enrolled, and why the student thinks this course should count for Ethical Reasoning.  For a petition to be considered, it is not enough that a course merely broach ethical issues, it must also provide the intellectual tools to grapple with them.  The approval process is lengthy and time-consuming; students are encouraged to take a course that has already been approved for ER from the course catalogue in lieu of petitioning for credit.
